Salsa Caleña Summer (slow) Dance Course
In this summer course, we’ll dive into the world of salsa Caleña at a calm and friendly pace. We’ll explore its history, technique, basic and intermediate steps, partner dancing, choreography, and improvisation.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I miss one of the classes?
Yes, each class is designed as a standalone block. While each session connects with the next, missing one won’t stop you from joining future classes.
If I come with a partner, do I always have to dance with the same person?
While it’s ideal to come with the same partner, it’s not required. What’s important is that your partner understands this is not a “regular” class—we’ll go deep into specific aspects of Cali-style salsa, which requires patience and focus.
Important:
You can also take just the first three sessions individually.
About the instructor
Daniela Mejía Castaño is a versatile Colombian dancer and journalist who has been dancing since the age of nine. Her main styles are salsa Caleña and hip hop with Latin American influences. She combines journalism-based methods—such as storytelling, critical feedback, and collaborative learning—with second-language teaching techniques. This approach helps students learn dance steps while expressing themselves clearly, connecting culturally, and building confidence. Daniela was a finalist on the TV Dutch program Project Dans (NPO1).
