Special: Chakra Harmonizing Ragas + Mantra Singing
On the 26th of October we invite you to a very special music-guided experience of sound, stillness, and energy alignment.
The event is organized in collaboration with Nimisha Shankar — Indian vocalist, sonic alchemist, and creative director — and Berto, known for his Meditative Kirtans in Groningen, which he guides on the Indian harmonium and Shruti Box.
In the first part of the afternoon, we’ll connect through mantra singing, allowing ourselves to fully arrive in the space and settle into our bodies. The second part will unfold into a deeply immersive one-hour sound meditation using Indian classical ragas, where musical frequencies aligned with the body’s energy centers (chakras) create a space for deep healing, balance, and serenity.
All age groups and walks of life are welcome!

Chakra Harmonizing Ragas + Mantra Singing
💛 Part one – Mantras with Berto
A mantra is a sacred expression of a word, phrase, or sound, intended to open you on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level.
Chanting mantras is truly wonderful. The repetitive nature and the deeper spiritual meaning of each individual mantra bring you a wonderful moment of meditation and a moment of self-reflection and self-expression. Through music and singing, you connect more deeply with yourself, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the Now.
It’s not about beauty or perfection; it’s about togetherness, connection, peace, and focus. Simply being in the moment. A moment free from thoughts. Sing together or just listen and relax; feel free.
We begin the gathering with a short meditation. after which Berto will play and sing four meditative mantras. After each mantra, there’s another moment of rest to fully experience the effects of the mantra. Songsheets with the lyrics of the mantras are available so you can easily sing along.

🧡 Part two – Chakra Harmonizing Ragas with Nimisha Shankar
What Nimisha brings is not “sound therapy” in the usual sense. It is a journey into the very architecture of sound and its relationship with the human being and the universe.
For thousands of years, Indian traditions like Nāda Yoga (the yoga of sound) and Rāga Chikitsa (an Ayurvedic approach to sound) have explored how vibrations shape life itself – from our mental states, to our physical health, to the deeper realization of our potential as human beings. These were not isolated practices for “healing sessions” but profound systems of understanding the cosmos and our place within it.
(* A raga is a complex, fundamental melodic framework in Indian classical music that uses a specific set of notes in defined ascending and descending patterns to create a unique emotional mood or “color” for the listener.)
The project, Chakra Harmonizing Ragas, draws from this lineage. It is less a performance, more an opening into a space where sound is experienced as a mirror of the self, and a key to reimagining how we live, work, and relate to one another. Through the use of Indian classical ragas aligned with the body’s energy centres (chakras), combined with guided awareness, the session invites audiences to pause, listen, and reconnect with an ancient yet radically relevant way of perceiving life.
